I reached out for help promoting a unit event and expected clearer direction from the start. Instead, I was passed between contacts and had to repeat the same information several times. The person who eventually handled the request was courteous, but by then our timeline was tight and some of the planned coverage could not happen. I understand they probably juggle a lot of priorities, but better communication and ownership of the request would have made a big difference for me.

    Good work, slow process

    My experience was a mixed bag. The final product looked professional, and the staff member who worked with me clearly understood public messaging. However, the request sat for quite a while without an update, and I had to check in more than once. Some of the submission requirements also could have been explained better up front. I was satisfied with what they delivered, but the process took more effort and time than I think it should have.

    Request completely mishandled

    I submitted my request with the required information and received confirmation, then heard nothing for days. When I finally reached someone, I was told the request could not be located and had to send everything again. After that, I got conflicting instructions about approvals and deadlines from different people. By the time anyone provided a clear answer, the opportunity for coverage had passed. I understand that workloads change and not every event can be supported, but I should have been told that early. Losing paperwork, failing to follow up, and giving inconsistent guidance wasted my time and left our team scrambling. I was extremely disappointed with how this was handled.

    Excellent event support

    I coordinated with the public affairs team for coverage of a fairly busy event, and they handled it extremely well. Beforehand, they asked practical questions about timing, access, key participants, and the purpose of the event. On site, the team was professional and unobtrusive while still getting the photos and information they needed. They also checked names and details instead of making assumptions, which I appreciated. The finished material was accurate, polished, and turned around promptly. What stood out most was their follow-through; I always knew where the request was in the process. I would absolutely recommend working with them when you need clear, responsible communication.
